Gary Popolizio brought his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Evolution to Bent Metal Customs in early 2015. The “Evolution” was broken down into stages, starting with the Detroit Speed hydroformed subframe and Quadralink with JRi adjustable coilovers. We then removed the heavy big block that was in the car and replaced it with a Mast Motorsports LS7 adorned with a custom Performance Design carbon fiber intake manifold which is mated to a Tremec T-56 transmission. Stopping power is important on a car that makes 633hp and 689tq at the rear tire, so we tucked Baer 14-inch rotors and 6-piston calipers behind the Forgeline VR3P wheels. Gillin Custom Design out of Middletown, NY transformed the car’s interior with Mercedes-Benz leather, a Kenwood head unit, and Rockford Fosgate speakers and subwoofers. The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Evolution was finally finished in 2017, just in time to celebrate the 50th birthday of the car. Since the completion of “Evolution,” the Camaro has won several awards including Rodders Rep Pick at the 2017 Goodguys Nashville Nationals and has also made an appearance at the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas, NV.
